Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 14, 2026

The short version: the current version of the Crosscut app doesn't collect your data. No accounts, no analytics, no server of ours — your footage stays on your device unless you choose to share it. Apple's App Store has its own data practices, described below.

1. What the app collects

Nothing, today. The current version of Crosscut has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking, and no server operated by us. We do not collect, receive, transmit, sell, or share your personal information or anything you record. If a future version changes any of this, Section 8 explains how we will tell you.

2. What Apple collects

You get Crosscut through Apple's App Store, and Apple has its own data practices that we don't control. Apple processes your download and any payment under your Apple Account and keeps its own records and receipts. If you have opted in to sharing analytics with developers in iOS Settings, Apple may provide us anonymized, aggregated crash reports and usage statistics — that data comes from Apple, is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, and never includes your recordings.

3. Where your recordings live

Video, audio, markers, and project files created by Crosscut are stored on your device, inside the App's own storage (visible in the Files app) and, only when you choose to save or share, in the locations you pick (for example your Photos library, AirDrop, or another app). Sharing is always initiated by you and uses Apple's system share mechanisms.

4. Device permissions and why

• Camera — to record video.
• Microphone — to record audio.
• Photo Library (add-only) — only to save recordings when you tap "Save to Photos." Crosscut never reads your existing photos.

5. On-device processing

All video processing — recording, aspect cuts, and composite exports — happens entirely on your device. If you enable the optional subject-tracking feature, face detection runs on-device using Apple's frameworks solely to position the crop. When you record with tracking on, the App saves only the subject's position path (screen coordinates and timestamps — no images, no biometric data, nothing that can identify anyone) inside that recording's folder on your device, so tracked crops can be re-rendered later; deleting the take deletes it. Nothing ever leaves the device. With tracking off, no face detection runs at all.

6. Purchases

Crosscut is a paid app. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through your Apple Account; we never see or store your payment details. Future versions may offer additional paid upgrades — one-time purchases or subscriptions. Prices and terms are always shown on the App Store before you buy.

7. Children

The current version of Crosscut does not collect data from anyone, including children.

8. Future versions and changes

This policy describes the version of Crosscut available today. Features we add later may involve data collection (for example, optional accounts or cloud features) or paid tiers. If our practices change, we will update this policy and its effective date before the change takes effect, describe the change in the App's release notes, and reflect it in the App Store privacy label.
